Month 3 in Review - March
A month ago I was debating whether one would ever need more than one lens (surely a zoom could cover everything, no?), then got the macro at the end of February, followed days later by the acquisition of the Sigma 8-16mm wide angle. The weather hasn't been the greatest, so I really haven't taken that lens outside much. And with a 'weird' month, there have been all too many days where I nearly went to bed and realized that I didn't have a daily photo yet - that's really all the motivation behind most of those macro photos from the last couple of weeks. While I don't have the narrow depth of field figured out yet, I'm learning that a macro lens can make a little mundance object look interesting: think ink dots, the dent in a coin, or the hair on the leaf of a plant. And yet, looking through my last three months of photos I find that its the grand vistas that I am drawn to the most: Day 9 - Blowing Snow, Day 50 - Spray Lakes Sunset, Day 71 - Burnt Timber Lookout, and Day 85 - Opal. With spring around the corner (I hope), I'm aiming to capture more landscapes this month, and perhaps start using the polarizer and neutral density filters more.
